Aprann Kreyòl Ayisyen
As most of you already know, there are similarities between French and Haitian Creole. One of the areas where the two languages are nearly identical is the numbers. With the exception of the number one, I find all the other numbers to be the same in both French and Haitian Creole. One thing I want to suggest is for you to not spend too much time on how the numbers are spelled but to pay more attention to the pronunciations. Until recently, schools in Haiti were taught solely in French. Therefore, most people still spell Haitian Creole words in French. You will often see different people spell certain words differently and I guess it’s ok since the country just started using Haitian Creole in certain official documents (like passports) not too long ago. Birth certificates are still 100% in French. This video will teach you how to count from 1-30 in Haitian Creole.
