Description
A wonderful story about a young boy (Vyezo) in Petit-Goâve, Haïti. He plays with all the neighbors but pays special attention to Vava. Vava is oblivious to the attention, and plays and dances with all her friends, which saddens Vyezo. His grandmother takes care of his sickness, but his heart can’t be cured easily. The beautiful and colorful illustrations by Frédéric Normandin are connected to the landscape and architecture of Haiti.
Mwen Damou pou Vava has been nominated for the IBBY Honour List 2010 by the Haitian Section of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) for the quality of its translation by Lyonel Trouillot. The French version of the book Je suis fou de Vava won the 2007 Governor General of Canada Award.
